GENERAL SUMMARY: Delphinus Engineering is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician to support our customers with US Navy tasking. This position will support the Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) to enhance and automate maintenance processes using machinery information systems. Applicants should possess a strong understanding of Navy maintenance processes, logistics support systems, periodic, corrective, and Condition Based Maintenance of shipboard equipment, ideally Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) equipment. Experience in design, assembly, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of shipboard equipment or similar industrial or maritime equipment is ideal. Applicants should possess the ability to work with teams, communicate with professionals in other disciplines, and navy personnel. The position will complete assigned tasking and work with teams including Navy customer personnel and other organizations to provide solutions to the fleet.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support fielded condition assessment systems and processes to provide shipboard operators and maintainers with situational awareness tools for their equipment.
  • Provide insights from operator and maintainer perspectives to design teams, software developers, testers, and integrators, to enhance Navy systems for increased readiness, operational availability, reliability, system health, and decreased maintenance.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of projects and studies for shipboard and shoreside Naval HM&E equipment assessment and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Draw on experience with Navy 3-M and similar information sources to optimize integration on-ship and ashore for real time operational and sensor data of equipment impacting maintenance decisions for the fleet.
  • Provide input to Navy teams on system architectures, development, test, and fielding strategies.
  • Provide inputs to requirements and design specifications to assist with the Navy's systems engineering process for development and test of software-based condition assessment systems.
  • Support the generate and execution of system test plans and procedures, particularly those regarding integration to maintenance information systems.
  • Create and update technical documentation such as users' manuals, product specifications, and training materials.
  • Apply technical knowledge to put equipment in operational condition and solve complex problems.
  • Make recommendations for improvements or modifications to correct problems.
  • Track issues identified from the fleet, during test or integration to resolution through the product lifecycle
  • Participate in special projects as required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • 2 or more years of experience executing maintenance on US Naval ships
  • 3 or more years of experience working with Navy maintenance information systems
  • Candidates with a Degree in Engineering are preferred
SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS:
  • Applicants should have 3 or more years of experience with Navy maintenance information systems such as (but not limited to) 3-M, SKED, CDMD-OA, Planned Maintenance System Management Information System (PMS-MIS)
  • Applicants preferably have taken Navy Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Training
  • Applicants should possess a strong understanding of maintenance philosophies for equipment, particularly for implementing effective Condition Based Maintenance strategies
  • Experience drafting, using, and/or recommending enhancements to PMS Maintenance Index Pages and Maintenance Requirement Cards (MIP / MRC)
  • An understanding of parts obsolecense, availability, sources of supply, Navy Allowance Parts Lists (APLs), (Hierarchical Structure Codes (HSCs), and part / assembly / kit dependencies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel, Word, and Outlook).
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Candidates must have an active government security clearance or the ability to obtain security clearance.
  • Travel Requirements: Travel to be up to 25%.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • The work is typically performed at client site locations in an office and lab environments. Additional work may be performed onboard US Navy Ships (pier side and at sea), which requires proper safety precautions and ability to go up and down shipboard stairways (ladders); work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes, or equipment.
