Job Description Summary

Component Test Enabling Hardware (CTEH) - Lead Engineer designs unique hardware in virtual space and then brings it to life from concept through manufacturing, assembly, and finally test. They will apply sound mechanical design practices, have knowledge of materials, and implement reliable solutions to provide delivery of quality data to our customers.

A CTEH Lead Engineer will contribute to the design and development of complex products, solutions, and systems for jet engine component and module level development test campaigns. Projects will be linked to continuous improvement of existing products/components as well as the development and technical maturity of new products not yet entered into service . The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within operating disciplines covered by standard functional practices and procedures.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Executes the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include several disciplines within the mechanical engineering domain expertise

  • Knowledge of finite element analysis using ANSYS or equivalent

  • Experienced with NX software or equivalent CAD software

  • Understanding of mechanical drawings, GD&T principles, and tolerance stacks

  • Ability to complete simple structural, thermal and fluid flow hand calculations

  • Collaborates with other support organizations including tradesmen for the fabrication of components related to mechanical rigs, sourcing/vendors for procurement of component design and off-the-shelf hardware, and test operations for setup and execution of test campaign

  • Contributes to department initiatives to drive continuous improvement, Lean, and standard work

  • Participates as a presenter in technical and program level project reviews

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college

  • Minimum 5 years of applicable engineering experience in mechanical design, preferably in the aerospace industry

Desired Characteristics

  • MS Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college

  • Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes;

  • Project management skills;

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across functional boundaries

  • Passion for engineering of unique aerospace hardware

  • Computer Skills – Comfortable with email, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
