Civil Engineer

Job Summary:

Civil Engineer must have experience in civil/site engineering, including designing local streets, site grading plans, erosion and sedimentation control, floodplain studies with FEMA approval, pavement design, stormwater management, sanitary sewer systems, code research, writing specifications, obtaining permits, and construction cost estimating.

Responsibilities:

• Thorough knowledge of civil engineering theory, principles and practices as applied to the preparation of plans, specifications, estimates and designs for a variety of commercial, educational, and public works engineering projects.
• Knowledge of highway and structure design as well as erosion and sediment control and stormwater management policies and procedures.
• Strong construction project management skills.
• Proficiency in the use of MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite software (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook) and the ability to learn new programs.
• Ability to prepare technical forms, reports, and other correspondence.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, associates, developers, consultant architects and engineers, contractors, and the public.

Qualifications:

• B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering with experience in civil engineering design (municipal, commercial, and industrial).
• EIT Certification
• NYS Professional Engineer's license Preferred. (Candidate must obtain P.E. within 6 months of hire.)
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
