Oracle Software Development Snr Director - Data Plane Platform

Location: Pierre, South Dakota

As a Sr. Director of Software Development, you will build and lead the Data-Plane Platform teams for OCI’s Technical Strategy & Oversight Organization. The charter of the organization is to develop prescriptive guidelines, standard platform services, libraries and tools to enable more efficient, reliable, and converged data-planes across OCI. You will build an organization that brings together low-level systems knowledge and data plane expertise and work with our most senior technical leaders to define, design, and develop solutions to some of the most complex problems.

These are exciting times in our space - we are growing fast, still at an early stage, and working on ambitious new initiatives such as providing a canonical implementation of core components for data planes through a data-plane runtime framework, developing a remote persistent storage solution with latency and performance comparable to that of a local nVME drive, or developing standards and tooling to identify critical performance improvements across OCI data-planes.

Responsibilities:

  1. Direct, lead, and coach engineering teams to deliver successful products and services.
  2. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices, ensuring compliance and driving innovation within the organization.
  3. Launch new cloud services and establish operational excellence.
  4. Set the technical direction for foundational data-plane components across OCI.
  5. Build high-performing geographically distributed engineering teams.
  6. Coach, mentor, and develop the best talent.
  7. Establish and stimulate software development standards and processes along with best practices for the entire organization.
  8. Develop strategic plans to accomplish technical and business objectives with leadership chain, team, and customers.
  9. Define new KPIs to inform decision making and prioritization.
  10. Set goals and expectations for performance and work with employees to establish specific, measurable goals and commitments.
