In the Software Engineer II role, you will be an integral part of the growing Engineering team, responsible for developing the core backend capabilities that will have the largest impact on the experience of Stavvy’s users. You will have the opportunity to work on a product driving change in the mortgage industry by simplifying processes and moving towards paperless transactions. Specifically, this role will be a member of the team responsible for reimagining the current workflows of the Stavvy platform to promote a more cohesive experience. Additionally, the team will be working on a new message-driven service responsible for all internal and external notifications and observability within the Stavvy platform.

What You'll Do

1. Write well-tested, scalable, production-ready code in Kotlin and Python
2. Develop back-end systems with API usability and experience in mind
3. Collaborate with our product, design, and development teams in order to fully create and understand the requirements for what is necessary to be produced
4. Test and debug the code to ensure correctness and completeness
5. Improve functionality and stability of existing systems
6. Assess and prioritize feature requests in collaboration with our Product Management team
7. Fully participate in agile team ceremonies, including refinement, sprint planning, and standup
8. Grow yourself and your team’s engineering skills by mentoring and participating in design and code reviews
9. Experience with microservices and distributed systems
10. Work on special projects or other duties as designated by your manager

Who You Are

1. Creative, skilled, and self-driven Software Engineer with 3+ years of back-end engineering experience
2. Proficiency in Kotlin and/or Java, with experience or a willingness to learn Python
3. Understanding of modern web infrastructure and architecture patterns
4. Experience building services in a cloud platform (AWS preferred)
5. Familiarity with PostgreSQL or some other SQL Database
6. Experience with Data Dog and a strong interest in observability is a plus
7. Capable of writing complex backend code for a publicly accessible web application that can scale with the expected business growth
8. Committed to collaborative problem solving and sophisticated design
9. Natural collaborator and problem solver who thrives in fast-paced environments
10. Relentlessly curious and are continuously working to build your knowledge and learn

Compensation Education

1. The Boston based range for this full time position is $125,000 - $150,000

3. Stavvy is committed to competitive and equitable pay for all Stavviators. The listed pay range for this role is a good faith estimate of the hiring range for this position. Compensation offered will be determined based on several factors including an individual’s experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
