WHAT YOU DO AT AMD CHANGES EVERYTHING

We care deeply about transforming lives with AMD technology to enrich our industry, our communities, and the world. Our mission is to build great products that accelerate next-generation computing experiences - the building blocks for the data center, artificial intelligence, PCs, gaming and embedded. Underpinning our mission is the AMD culture. We push the limits of innovation to solve the world's most important challenges. We strive for execution excellence while being direct, humble, collaborative, and inclusive of diverse perspectives.

THE ROLE:

As a member of the AIG-Sharks team, you will help develop a Python-based DSL (Tk) for high performance kernels on a variety of hardware backends. Whether it's matrix multiplication, convolutions, attention or the latest ML operator, your mission is to design the language and develop code generation pipelines that maximize throughput, reduce latency, and ensure we reach the hardware rooflines.

THE PERSON:

We're seeking a strong compiler and GPU/CPU programming expert who intimately understands the GPU/CPU programming model and core optimization techniques. As a communicator and team player, you'll collaborate across functions to meet deliverables and drive our future roadmap.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop and enhance language functionality to represent a variety of different operators.
  2. Apply compiler transformations and optimizations on fx.graphs.
  3. Develop MLIR lowerings for operators from fx.graphs.
  4. Add support for new hardware backends.
  5. Optimize kernels to achieve peak performance.
  6. Collaborate with the rest of the team in defining the roadmap for language.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  1. Expert knowledge and hands-on experience in C, C++, and Python.
  2. Experience in compiler development.
  3. Experience with IREE, MLIR, and LLVM.
  4. Proficiency in writing high performance kernels for GPUs (in CUDA, HIP, SPIRV, etc).
  5. Experience with distributed computation and communication primitives.

PREFERRED ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  1. Master's or doctorate degree in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
