Sr. Backend Engineer

Job Title: Sr. Backend Engineer

KORE1, a nationwide provider of staffing and recruiting solutions, has an immediate opening for a Sr. Backend Engineer.

Here's what you'll be working on day-to-day, but as a nimble organization that puts our customers at the forefront, flexibility is key, and other responsibilities may arise:

1. Working directly at the infrastructure layer, incorporating various financial service networks.
2. Work cross-functionally on large, complex projects.
3. Regularly participate in code reviews and other team functions.
4. Provide technical leadership and assist in guiding the team's overall technical direction.
5. Experience in Go is preferred.
6. 4+ years of experience writing high-quality code in a programming language (e.g., Go, Node, Ruby, Scala).
7. Enjoy thinking about systems - their life cycles, edge cases, interactions, and failure modes.
8. Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
9. Experience in fintech, payments, processing, card networks, banking, or early-stage startups.
10. Experience in project management, from design to launch.
11. Passionate about financial inclusion and mobility.
12. Fluency in English; Spanish is a plus.
13. Willingness to be deep in the details while also being able to create and communicate higher-level strategy.
14. An opportunist who is clever and witty.
15. Strong written and verbal communicator.
16. Demonstrated ability to partner effectively across the organization.
17. Ability to think creatively and critically and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and often ambiguous work environment.
18. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to cultivate relationships with senior leadership and board members.
19. Can comfortably balance speed of iteration and quality of code. We follow good practices such as testing and code review while iterating fast based on user feedback.
