Description:
This programmer position will be responsible for creating new applications written in .Net using Microsoft Visual Studio and Microsoft SQL Server. We are updating our current tech stack and redeveloping our current applications in .Net.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Communicate with Business Users regarding requirements
- Learn and maintain the code behind the proposal quoting system that MGIS uses.
- Use the Microsoft .NET Framework
- Use principles of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design
- Work in a Cloud environment such as Azure or AWS
- Create / Review System Documentation
- Derive and design technical specifications from general product requirements and specs
- Ability to implement from the technical specifications
- MS Excel skills – the ability to follow equations and cells through a spreadsheet.
- Strong math skills – the ability to understand and debug complex equations.
- Be accountable for agreed upon development schedule
- Assist in quality assurance measures (code reviews, unit, and interaction test case creation, etc.)
- Ability to multi-task and work well under high pressure
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Works well independently, as well as in a team
- Various projects and assignments as assigned
Requirements:
This position requires a self-starter with GREAT coding skills and an understanding and experience working with N-Tier Development Architectures. Must possess the ability to multitask and deal with deadlines. Must be able to use programming skills to solve business problems and be willing to focus on coding with multiple distractions. Must be a team player, able to help others in IT be successful, pick up the slack when the department is busy and willing to jump in and get things done.
Education and/or Experience:
A bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university, or four years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in their most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Experience with .Net and MSSQL. Ability to work well in a team environment supporting the team wherever possible. Preferred, but not required: Microsoft Certified Application Developer (MCAD), or Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD) for .NET. Experience working with containerization technologies as well as CI-CD pipelines. Experience with other tech stacks. Experience with web-based applications as well as client-server applications.
