Title: Network Engineer
Location: Ft. Meade, MD (80% Remote)
Length of contract: 6 contract-to-hire, long term contract
Client is seeking a focused Network Engineer to support a local DoD integrator in a large network migration project.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SIP routers, DHCP, IPv4, Load Balancers, Routers and Switches.
Clearance Requirement:
Must hold an active Secret clearance prior to start and be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret SCI clearance. (US Citizenship required)
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree and 5 or more years' experience managing a large enterprise network, LAN technologies based on Cisco hardware and platforms
• However, additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree may be considered
• Experience working in a Network Operation Center (NOC) environment, responding to trouble tickets and alerts for LAN and WAN environments
• Expertise in networking concepts and equipment such as IPv4 and IPv6, MPLS, PLS and SIP, Routers, Switches, Load Balancers, Protocol analyzers, and probes
• Candidates must be able to pass an IRS Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) security background check prior to start date
• Candidates must be a US Citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident (Green Card status) for 3 years and be Federal Tax compliant if not, candidate will not be considered
Responsibilities:
• Network engineers are responsible for designing, development, integration and configure unique networks
• These positions will require the skillset and experience use free thinking and independent judgement to provide unique solutions
• Maintain and upgrade the network hardware and software as well as providing individual solutions for the network to ensure network availability to all system users
• Tasks may include participate in the development of new network designs, assess network management architecture, document the architecture, develop test plans, and conduct the testing effort
• The candidate will be responsible for upgrades and support unique problem resolution
• No more than 5% CONUS travel is required for this position
• Develop technical solutions to issues that may be unclear and require deep technical knowledge
• Utilizing of various data sources will be necessary to fully understand the issues and inform the solution, have strong skillsets in network monitoring tools and deep analysis of network data
• Evaluate network service requests and validate/triage unique inquiries
• Analyze existing and future network infrastructure and provide solutions requirements
• Maintain network hardware and software, to include network layer communications providing transport
• Monitor network to ensure availability to all system users and performs necessary maintenance to support network availability
• Create and update network infrastructure documentation
• Assist with the development of network architecture and roadmaps
• Support design, design documentation, factory testing and integrations of network infrastructure
• Be responsible for installations, upgrades, support assistance and problem determination for operating systems, network hardware, and software products
• Work with stakeholders to identify short- and long-term priorities, to include multi-year road maps, five-year program and spending plans, strategic network upgrades, process efficiencies, strategic communications, and O&M frameworks
Responsibilities:
• The Network Engineer will work as part of a team comprised of other Leidos employees, sub-contractors and client personnel
• Open communication with these team members is paramount to ensure the client's network achieves over a 99% availability
• The ideal Network Engineer must have the ability to work as part of an operations team and be able to support multiple tasks at the same time
• Key duties will include managing various components of the data network wired infrastructure, including wireless routers, switches, the monitoring and alerting infrastructure which serves as the nexus of the NMCC's incident and alert management system
• Additional duties may involve project-based work for the improvement of the client's infrastructure or other elements of NMCC alert management, including integration of additional components, systems, or products into the managed device framework
• This position is on-site but will have the benefit to work remote 80% of the time
