What you will do

As Vehicle Control Systems Verification Engineer, you support the development of new product implementations of Electronic Braking and Air Management Systems. This includes supporting the prototype build of test vehicles, by fault tracing problems, supporting the teams in finding solutions and by physically verifying solutions on test vehicles. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Performing software and hardware updates for test vehicles.

  • Conducting root cause analysis for functional problems identified.

  • Performing measurements in various points of the Electronic Braking and Air Management Systems and logs the vehicle data that is necessary for troubleshooting.

  • Supporting problem resolution by teaming up with the development engineers as needed for specific problems.

  • Recommending solutions and provides feedback to development teams both locally and globally.

  • Documenting defects identified in vehicle’s electronic systems.

  • Performing test activities in support of road approval process for every test vehicle that is planned to be used on public roads.

  • Participating in design implementation by supporting with training and knowledge transfer activities.

  • Updating databases used in fault tracing.

  • Providing feedback regarding the test-truck build process and proposes improvements especially in root cause analysis.

Your future team

Our department, Chassis and Vehicle Dynamics Engineering (CVDE),is part of the Vehicle Engineering function for Volvo Group Trucks North America. Our teams have the responsibility for development of the complete chassis for Mack Truck and Volvo Truck built in North America. We develop and maintain solutions for the North American market in close collaboration with teams around the world.

In this role, you will report to the Group Manager, Vehicle Controls Systems.

Who are you?

  • Specialist knowledge of various commercial vehicle systems and functions

  • Expert knowledge of commercial vehicle CAN communication protocols and CAN analysis tools such as Vector CANalyzer.

  • Strong understanding of automotive electrical and electronics development and diagnostics tools.

  • Specialist knowledge and experience in vehicle controller software toolchain such as Engineering Tool, Prosit.

  • Experience with latest generation sensor technology, wiring harness manufacturing and repair tools.

  • Expert level commercial vehicle electrical and electronics troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; Master's Degree preferred

  • 3-5+ years of experience in commercial vehicle system verification and/or automotive system verification

  • Commerical Drivers License (CDL), or willingness to obtain a CDL, is a plus.

  • Ability to travel locally and internationally a must (10%)
