Role Description

Working within the software R&D organization, you will serve as a technical lead for a team of 3-5 engineers, building a custom battery cycler. The software product is co-located with our batteries in our test lab and controls a variety of hardware devices using Python. This engineer will spend their time architecting systems and leading the technical development of our software to ensure the product hits company milestones.

What You'll Do:

  1. Architect expansions to a cycler control and data acquisition platform in Python.
  2. Ensure product expands smoothly to an increasing number of battery test stands.
  3. Collaborate closely with battery scientists to ensure the optimal technology selection decisions are made.
  4. Lead software development by implementing some projects and scoping down other projects for teammates.
  5. Provide technical mentorship to grow the team.
  6. Debug challenging issues that arise along the way.
  7. Contribute to a product roadmap.

What You'll Bring:

  1. 7+ years of professional software experience.
  2. 2+ years as a technical lead.
  3. Fluency with Python, SQL databases, Docker, Linux, and AWS.
  4. Expertise in multithreaded systems and object-oriented programming.
  5. Experience using a wide range of technologies for building modern, scalable services. This might include solutions for interprocess communication, database management, and observability.
  6. (Bonus) Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), embedded systems, control theory, safety-critical applications, and sensors.

Compensation Range: $164.4K - $202.8K
