As a Maintenance Engineer, you will carry out our mission to improve the experience of aging together by m aintaining the continuous safe operation of the HVAC/refrigeration equipment and systems throughout the facility in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
What will I do as a Maintenance Engineer?
  • Install, operate and monitor HVAC and refrigeration equipment per manufacturers' specifications so as to minimize down time, avoid inconvenience to in-house customers and extend the life expectancy of the equipment. Read meters and gauges to verify operation conditions. Adjust manual controls or overrides automatic controls as required. Maintain equipment logs and records. Visually inspect equipment to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment or lubrication.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration equipment and walk-in and reach-in refrigerators, ice machines and appliances. Clean, maintain, adjust and lubricate equipment.
  • Perform skilled troubleshooting on electrical equipment. Repair equipment by interpreting schematics or equipment manuals to successful completion.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment such as split system air conditioning, walk-in and reach-in refrigerators, ice machines and appliances to ensure continuous equipment operation. Repair or replace lighting and electrical devices. Create parts orders with all necessary ordering information to successfully repair facility equipment.
  • Assist in the refurbishment of vacant rooms by repairing and replacing furnishings and fixtures. Ensure the proper operation of equipment and neat appearance of the resident rooms.
  • Repair or replace lighting and electrical devices. Perform plumbing repairs including sinks, faucets, toilets and related plumbing fixture repairs and replacements; clean drains and repair pipes. Solder, braze, or thread pipes as needed to ensure a neat, no-leak, safe system. Perform carpentry duties to include; repairing drywall and plaster walls, acoustical ceiling track, tile, doors, furniture repair and assembly, and hanging shelves/pictures, etc. Complete assigned work orders.
  • Comply with all safety programs and procedures. Provide support during emergency disaster situations. Maintain a safe, neat, and productive work environment in all equipment and shop areas. Maintain tools in good working condition; clean tools and return to proper place. Ensure safety of work area for staff, residents and visitors.
  • Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to exterior grounds work, snow/ice removal, driving company vehicles for transportation or supply pickup.
What is required in this position?
  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent
  • Requires CFC Certification. Journeyman HVAC License preferred
  • Requires valid driver's license
  • 2 years air conditioning and refrigeration experience in the healthcare industry preferred. General maintenance experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the following:
    • Refrigeration cycle and related systems and equipment.
    • Repair and maintenance of commercial refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
    • System troubleshoot-ing; leak detection, evacuation and charging; electrical troubleshooting.
    • Soldering or brazing pipes and components.
    • Equipment maintenance and preventative maintenance programs.
    • Microsoft Office applications and other software applications relating to the operation of the facility.
  • Skills in the following:
    • Installing, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
    • Using hand tools and power tools.
    • Performing general maintenance repairs.
    • Interpreting and applying building, fire, safety and life safety codes.
