The primary role of the Engineering function within the Product Development team is to create specifications and designs for new products or improvements and enhancements to existing products. Works closely with customers, developers, and other stakeholders to understand and define customer needs in these designs. Features are aligned to a timetable and areas of responsibility. Developers may solicit customers for feedback regarding product usability and desired future enhancements.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test software that meets our business and customer needs.
- Verify software behavior meets requirements through manual and automated tests.
- Deliver quality products within timeline.
- Document product design.
- Analyze, debug, and help resolve customer issues.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
- Perform routine professional-based activities (early in career).
- Contribute to and manage projects (mid-career).
- Provide advice/direction in primary areas of expertise (specialist and expert).
- Leverage professional expertise and relationships to contribute to strategy and drive business results (principal).
- Network with key contacts outside own area of expertise.
- Create formal networks involving coordination among groups.
- Lead project teams to achieve milestones and objectives.
- Serve as a best practice resource within own sub-function or function.
Qualifications and Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of 10 years of related experience.
- Ability to solve unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business.
- Mastery of a specialized discipline and thorough understanding of multiple disciplines.
