Role: Senior CNC Service Engineer

Location: Sheffield (West / South Yorkshire)

Salary: up to £45,000 DOE

We are recruiting a Senior CNC Service Engineer to join our client in this exciting opportunity. They are expert leaders in supplying CNC machine tools covering many sectors such as Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Automotive and more. Being a customer-centric organisation, they ensure that all requirements are always met as their number one priority. Working within two facilities in Yorkshire and the Midlands, they ensure that no location is off limits!

The Role

We are looking for a strong background in service engineering with a mechanical background, machine tool products and operational minded. The role will consist of working around the region of West / South Yorkshire, Derby and the Midlands supporting all aspects of the role.

Main Duties

  1. Servicing and maintaining our ranges of Machine Tool products.
  2. Attending faults, diagnosing problems, and rectifying machines. Replacing parts, as necessary.
  3. Liaising with Technical support, Service Management and Customer Services.
  4. Undertaking planned maintenance of machines.
  5. Identifying any parts required and ordering via Service and/or Spares department.
  6. Rebuilding of automatic indexing heads with appropriate training from the Principal.
  7. Carrying out Renishaw Ballbar Calibration.
  8. Being an integral part of a project installation team.
  9. Providing technical support to colleagues within the Service & Engineering functions.
  10. Supporting & assisting technical support engineers as and when required.
  11. Building relationships with colleagues and customers to improve results. Explaining machine faults, findings and repairs undertaken to customers. This may be in the form of a written report.
  12. Mentoring junior engineering technicians, trainees & apprentices.
  13. Understanding the needs of our customers and market sectors.
  14. Checking and adjusting machine geometry on all machines within the TW Ward product range.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess a blend of Mechanical and Service expertise (Ideally 5 years+), creative problem-solving skills, analytical mindset and a collaborative spirit. A commitment to excellence, continuous improvement, and a proactive approach to challenges are essential for success in this role. Furthermore, we are looking for someone who displays:

  1. Mechanical engineering apprentice trained.
  2. Manufacturing engineering / Machine Tool background.
  3. Minimum of 7 years’ Service Engineer, Machine Tool experience.
  4. Basic electrical knowledge.
  5. Thorough knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  6. Good understanding of CNC control systems.
  7. IT literate with up-to-date industry knowledge and working with H&S legislation.
  8. Full, valid driving licence.
