Sr Electrical Engineer - BESS

Pangea is partnering with a leading energy company in North America, with over 45 years of

experience, focusing on driving the transition to a carbon-neutral economy. Specializing in

renewable energy solutions such as wind, solar, and energy storage, they have a robust portfolio

that includes over 5 GW of grid-scale renewables. Their innovative approach helps customers reduce emissions and achieve renewable energy goals, reinforcing their commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the electrical design of BESS systems, including racks, modules, containers, and plant-level controls
• Act as the primary technical leader for BESS operations and troubleshooting
• Conduct and review complex engineering calculations
• Design and implement SAT and integration test plans for BESS systems
• Coordinate with system operators to address technical and operational challenges
• Lead the development and optimization of commissioning, maintenance, and operating procedures
• Assess maintenance records to ensure system reliability and compliance with NERC standards
• Work closely with internal teams and actively participate in design review processes

The candidate:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
• 7+ years of experience in utility-scale renewables engineering
• 3+ years of experience in utility-scale energy storage systems engineering
• Basic understanding of SCADA networks and protocols (MODBUS, DNP3)
• Knowledge of battery chemistries and their influence on BESS design
• Familiarity with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI standards

Other requirements

• Must be based in Houston or Chicago (or willing to relocate)
• Hybrid work eligible
• Up to 20% domestic travel required.
• Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record.
