Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic Applications Engineering Manager to lead a team that drives innovation in automation solutions. In this role you will leverage your technical expertise and hands-on engineering ability with proven leadership. You'll will have the opportunity to empower your team across all phases, from pre-sales discovery and design to quoting and customer collaboration. The ideal candidate will have a passion for automation, strong management capabilities, and the vision to propel our organization to new heights.
Job Responsibilities:
- Spearhead and mentor a team of 5+ Applications Engineers, providing strategic direction and fostering a collaborative environment.
- Actively participate in the engineering process, serving as a hands-on problem-solver and subject matter expert.
- Conduct financial analysis and project management, ensuring profitability and adherence to gross margin targets.
- Collaborate closely with sales teams during the concept and discovery phases, contributing to the development of Statements of Work (SOWs) and Request for Quotations (RFQs).
- Leverage proficiency in Excel to create detailed project schedules and documentation.
- Utilize Solidworks for design visualization, without direct involvement in the design process.
- Engage with customers during site visits, representing the company's expertise and commitment to excellence.
- Contribute to the development of automation solutions for industries such as automotive, consumer products, durable goods, and medical devices.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or Technical field.
- 5+ years of relevant experience, with a strong background in automation engineering and applications leadership roles.
- Proven track record in managing and delivering profitable projects with a demonstrated ability to understand project profitability metrics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to engineering challenges.
- Proficiency in Excel for scheduling and documentation.
- 10-20% domestic travel required for customer site visits.
