About the role
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about building and nurturing a vibrant developer community for SurrealDB, while helping developers succeed with our products and tools.
As a Developer Advocate, you will bridge the gap between the development community and our internal teams, driving product adoption, providing feedback, and creating valuable content such as tutorials, demos, and speaking at conferences.
A passion for developer advocacy, community building, and the ability to make a meaningful impact in a rapidly growing environment are key traits for success in this role.
The Developer Advocate will play a critical role in bridging the gap between the business and the developer community, fostering engagement, adoption, and trust. By ensuring that developers are well-supported and educated, the role will have a direct impact on the SurrealDB's product growth, community relations, and brand reputation.
What you will do
You will be the voice of the community, to champion their needs so we can continue to build amazing products to meet their needs.
- Promote the company externally and support the company community internally.
- Actively engage with developers on GitHub and on GitHub Discussions.
- Actively engage with developers externally, and on social media platforms.
- Create and deliver fun and engaging content covering technical or soft skills for developers, in areas such as, but not limited to, blog posts, technical journals, social media platforms, and for virtual and in-person live streams, presentations, workshops.
- Contribute to the SurrealDB blog and other SurrealDB documentation.
- Support Developer Office Hours - a dedicated time for developers to ask questions they need answered or share challenges they need help navigating.
- Helping to find community champions to showcase their projects built on SurrealDB.
Responsibilities:
- Community Engagement: Serve as the voice of the company in forums, social media, and developer platforms (Github, Discord and Discourse), answering questions, resolving challenges, and fostering a strong community presence.
- Product Advocacy: Promote the company's products and features to developers through technical demos, blog posts, and workshops, highlighting real-world use cases.
- Content Creation: Deliver high-quality educational resources (tutorials, blogs, videos, etc.) to help developers get the most out of the product. This includes working with the community to get developers to promote their projects.
- Public Speaking: Represent the company at conferences, webinars, and meetups, showcasing innovations and building relationships with influencers and thought leaders.
- Feedback Loop: Collect feedback from developers and relay insights to internal teams, ensuring that product decisions align with the real needs of the user base.
Key Deliverables:
- Engaged and Active Developer Community: Measurable growth in community engagement metrics (e.g., forum participation, event attendance, social media presence).
- Increased Product Adoption: The number of developers adopting and using the SurrealDB solutions.
- Valuable Content: A consistent stream of high-quality technical resources that support developers in overcoming challenges and maximising the potential of SurrealDB.
- Product Feedback: Actionable feedback from developers that influences the product roadmap, ensuring alignment with market needs.
