Apple’s Hardware Reliability Engineering team is looking for you to work with our diverse hardware development groups to ensure and improve the durability and reliability of our products. You will partner with multiple engineering teams from beginning (concept) to the end (field returns) of the product lifecycle, while exploring new technologies and understanding how customers will use our products.DescriptionAs an Apple Hardware Reliability Engineer, you will be involved during the full product development phase on new hardware programs. You will develop and implement creative reliability tests, support failure analysis and advise the team on the best path forward. YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR: - Developing new reliability tests procedures and specifications - Preparing concise and detailed test plans, analyzing test reports - Presenting test methodologies, results, and risk assessments in a confident, focused, and positive manner - Researching new technologies to understand unique failure mechanisms - Guiding design and interacting with diverse groups to improve product reliability - Statistical analysis to provide design risk assessments with applications such as Weibull++, JMP, and Tableau - Being a vocal proponent for reliability (internally and externally) in every phase of the development processMinimum QualificationsBachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or closely related Engineering field.3+ years of experience in a related field or industryKey QualificationsPreferred QualificationsPassion for the customer experience and what we can do to improve itExcellent written, visual, and verbal communication skillsStrong attention to detail and curiosity of how technologies workCapability to handle multiple projects at once and balance the workloadExperience performing reliability testing such as mechanical stress testing, environmental testing, and cyclic load testingStatistical analysis experience with tools like Weibull++ or JMP to model failure distributionsFamiliarity with failure analysis techniques (optical microscopy, X-ray/CT, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, etc), and the ability to use failure analysis methodology to derive a root cause of failuresEducation & ExperienceAdditional RequirementsPay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 and $250,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
