Chemical Process Engineer - (Plating)
The PCB industry is experiencing a renaissance with the industry focusing on interconnect technology and miniaturization. With layers of circuits approaching more than 70 layers and features approaching below 1 mil (25.4 microns), the industry is rapidly changing from the early 2000s to enabling technologies in the 2020s and 2030s. Sanmina's PCB division is at the forefront of this renaissance, offering new opportunities for talented engineers in chemical engineering, material science, physics, and mechanical engineering. Sanmina is seeking engineers to explore opportunities to unleash the potential of advanced semiconductors and enable significant technological advancements.
The imaging and etching processes develop the actual conductor shapes for the printed circuit board and those are one of the key essences to achieve next generation performance above. This position includes such exciting process development for the future PCBs.
Job Purpose:
The Process Engineer will be responsible for sustaining and continuous improvement of PCB plating processes to improve process capability and yield. The engineer will work closely with x-functional teams to investigate and resolve yield and manufacturing issues as related to plating. The engineer willalso be responsible for creating and qualifying new processes, identifying and implementing equipment upgrades,improving process capability,implementing best known manufacturing practices, and exploring new technologies. Optimizing performance to achieve best-in-class yields for the technology being built is a critical objective.

Salary Range (annual) : $88,000.00 - $102,024.00

Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on engineering support for process issues and product disposition.
- Perform DOE and statistical data analysis to investigate major sources of process variation and develop solutions to eliminate or reduce their impact.
- Identify critical-to-yield process parameters and specifications through process window characterization.
- Utilize structured problem solving techniques and develop a culture of strong engineering discipline through the use of advanced quality tools such as FMEAs, DOEs, DMAIC, and SPC.
- Work effectively with the equipment and material suppliers to identify opportunities for process capability and yield improvement through equipment upgrades, new equipment or materials, or new processing technology.
- Work to the established priorities and work schedules. Support, augment and work seamlessly with the Process Engineering team and cross functional peers.
- Participate in the development of intellectual property.
- Interact with line managers within Sanmina and executive management of Sanmina's supply chain partners
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or Physics is required; an MS is preferred.
- 2+ years of process engineering experience in semiconductor or printed circuit board manufacturing operation
- Skilled in the use of statistical data analysis tools such as Excel, JMP, or Minitab
- Ability to multitask as the job often requires supporting multiple tasks at the same time
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to adapt to a changing and dynamic work environment
- Ability to work independently with little to no supervision
- Experienced in managing projects from start to finish.
- Strong people skills and ability to manage teams
