Support continuous manufacturing process using engineering skills to assess, manage, implement, improve or revise processes, with the goal of improving efficiency of operation, safety and the consistency of product quality. Focus on delivering to OEE improvements through equipment reliability. Monitors the effectiveness of processes and quantifies results and presents findings to management. Prepares detailed reports and analysis for use by management in measuring overall production efficiency.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and resolve any equipment related safety issues in department.
  • Accountability for established production goals by removing barriers or bottlenecks that may exist and inhibit production
  • Work closely with production operators and Department Manager to identify and communicate daily issues, priorities and production changes
  • Point of contact to coordinate activities to be performed on plant equipment including lockout/tagout, safe work permits, hot work, line and equipment opening
  • Participate and/or lead when appropriate "root cause" investigations of safety and/or equipment failures or other incidents when necessary
  • Work with internal or external partners in all day-to-day maintenance/reliability/equipment performance, instrument/hardware issues and quality control concerns
  • Participate in daily production meetings, weekly staff meetings and other scheduled meetings as necessary
  • Support coordination during plant outages from equipment shutdown through starting up the process
  • Supports small capital projects (typically under $100,000) as well as participates as a manufacturing representative on large capital projects including planning, design and P&ID reviews
  • Update work instructions as needed
  • Maintain calibration and verification of plant equipment
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing environment
  • Prior experience working with non-woven rolled goods and equipment preferred (winding, calendaring, coating, ovens, etc.)
  • Additional experience within dust collection, air flow design and control, and PLC based controls systems is beneficial
  • Experience with business system software systems (i.e. Oracle) and quality control systems preferred
  • Prior experience with OSHA's Process Safety Management standards

  • Occasionally exposed to extreme heat or cold (non-weather)
  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually loud
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50lbs pounds
