We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer I (Sr. PE I) for the Chicago area . The Sr. PE I engages with our clients at a high level to assess their operations, identify opportunities, and provide recommendations for maximizing energy efficiency and performance in industrial systems. The Sr PE I takes the lead to consult, gather data, create optimization models of industrial systems, and writes feasibility reports for energy efficiency projects, while leading overall management of projects. They also provide mentorship and contribute to peer support and quality control review.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Leading, managing, and directing high-profile projects and maintaining accountability on assigned projects
  • Calculating energy savings for various system or equipment changes using existing calculation tools, original spreadsheets, and/or generally accepted methodologies
  • Engaging with clients at their industrial locations to gain a deep understanding of their equipment and operations, identifying opportunities for energy efficiency, and providing recommendations
  • Fostering and growing client relationships and identifying opportunities that may result in generating significant new work from new and existing clients
  • Presenting complex technical issues with a diverse audience in a way that facilitates understanding and consensus
  • Composing energy efficiency project reports based on analyses and observations
  • Documenting performance through data collection from customer sources or via installed data logging equipment
  • Maintaining expert knowledge of utility programs and their compliance requirements
  • Providing peer mentorship through technical discussions and work review

This is a full-time, exempt position to be located in or near our Park Ridge IL office. Estimated travel is at 10% - 20% for local site visits.

Qualifications

Applicants for this role are required to have:

  • Bachelor's Degree, or higher, in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or a related field of study
  • 5-8 years of engineering experience
  • Expert technical knowledge of refrigeration, compressed air systems, steam systems, customer computer modeling of systems, electrical distribution system design, industrial control, and data-logging of system results

A successful candidate should also demonstrate these preferred characteristics and/or skills:

  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making capabilities demonstrated by educational or professional experiences
  • Strong project management and organization skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to comfortably interact with internal and external customers and stakeholders to serve their needs
  • Solid understanding of internal policies and procedures
  • Proactive, resourceful, and highly motivated to achieve project results

Our total rewards include competitive pay and excellent benefits. The salary range for this position in Park Ridge, Illinois is $110,775 - $135,345. However, final salary offered may vary depending on non-discriminatory factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experiences, and geographical location if different than the above.
