Summary:

The main function of a Software Test Engineer is to develop, implement, and document all testing activities, including test planning, test documentation, test execution, defect tracking and reporting, including follow-up and issue resolution.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Execute test plans, scenarios, scripts or procedures.
  • Test system modifications to prepare for implementation.
  • Develop testing programs that addresses areas such as database impacts, software scenarios, or usability.
  • Document software defects, using a bug tracking system, and report defects to software developers.
  • Identify, analyze and document problems with program function, output, online screen or content.
  • Monitor bug resolution efforts and track successes.
  • Create or maintain databases of known test defects.
  • Plan test schedules or strategies in accordance with project scope or delivery dates.

Typical Day in the Role:

  • Purpose of the Team – Building equipment used in the manufacturing process. May be located in Redmond or other facilities. Test and validation in the Hololens program. Board level wireless calibration and tests. (Wifi/Bluetooth/GPS) sub-systems. Device Calibration and set-up for verification, and occasionally 3rd party efforts have their test sets working correctly. Test automation for those systems. (setting up bench to de-bug to calibrate wifi/gps/Bluetooth) measurements and test systems. Typical EE (Electrical Engineer) role for grounding in RF in wireless systems, with Software Engineering experience.
  • Key projects – Test automation for those systems (setting up bench to de-bug to calibrate wifi/gps/Bluetooth) measurements and test systems. Typical EE (Electrical Engineer) role for grounding in RF in wireless systems.
  • Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm - Working with the RF Engineering team to ensure devices are calibrated and work with Software Engineers that are developing the test automation. This role sits in-between the RF Engineers and the hardcore EE’s.

Qualifications:


  • Associate's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required.
  • 8-10 years experience required .
  • Experience testing software.
  • Experience writing test documentation such as Test Plans, scripts and test results reports.
  • Ability to analyze/interpret test results and provide recommendations to improve testing.

Candidate Requirements:


  • Years of Experience Required – 5+ Years of Experience (Hard skills)
  • Degrees or certifications required – Masters level EE (Electrical Engineering) is a nice to have.
  • Having a RF Engineering or Wireless focus is a must-have.
  • Best vs. Average – Qualcomm and BLE chipsets, with prior experience with QSPR and / or IQFact test packages. This would be for Wifi / BT / GPS testing. No immediate need for cellular. BT5
  • Lite Point or Rhoade and Schwartz Hardware Experience
  • Performance Indicators –
  • Fast-Paced environment with multiple test systems/releases.
  • Releasing code every 6 weeks.

Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience:

1. 5+ Years of Experience in Wifi/BT/Signal measurements

2. 5+ Years of Experience in L1-L5, Electrical signal loss, S Parameters.

3. 3-4 Years of Experience in Python or PowerShell Scripting language experience.
