Stantec is actively seeking eager, enthusiastic candidates for an entry-level Civil Engineer position with our transportation group. The work will be challenging and rewarding as you contribute to design and construction projects with the guidance of our more seasoned engineers.
We need you to be ready to build on the solid technical skills you learned in university, life, and other career steps. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include analysis, calculations, report preparation, community exhibits, and documents to support the design of projects. These assignments may be broad, varied, and diverse in scope and are expected to help you grow in confidence and technical ability in supporting our local, state, and global transportation projects.
Your Key Responsibilities
Assist in preparing geometric designs with horizontal and vertical alignments
Assist in preparing signing, striping, lighting designs, and details
Assist in assembling lists of construction items, quantities, and costs
Assist in assembling specifications for construction items
Serve as a design engineer on local and national transportation projects
Support multi-discipline design teams on larger facility and transportation projects
Identify and analyze the principal roadway design features and major design alternatives that satisfy the project’s purpose and the client’s needs
Develop feasible roadway design alternatives to be compared against significant project parameters such as site conditions, right-of-way requirements, utility conflicts, design standards, and cost
Assist in producing detailed, high-quality final design plans, specifications, and estimates in accordance with applicable procedures and standards
Participate in quality control reviews of technical contract documents
Utilize CAD software in the development of two - and three-dimensional models
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Demonstrated experience with CAD (Bentley MicroStation, OpenRoads, and InRoads a plus)
Attention to detail and accuracy
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience and knowledge with roadway design a plus
Road drainage design and analysis experience a plus
Possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)
No prior experience in transportation design engineering required. Local project resume, internships and experience preferred

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
The candidate should be willing to come into the office on a full-time basis until the candidate demonstrates the ability to work independently and efficiently in a remote setting.
