Overview: In Mixed Reality, we are building the next generation of devices and infrastructure for training and in-field deployment of scenarios like project IVAS (Integrated Visual Augmentation System). To achieve this, we're incorporating diverse groundbreaking technologies from sensors, computer vision, machine learning, human-computer interaction, AI, and more. As a Software Engineer II - Edge Compute Infrastructure on the Mixed Reality Team, you will work on the Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS). The United States Army has contracted Microsoft to prototype hardware, software, and cloud solutions for IVAS. The program leverages technology from HoloLens to design a heads-up display that pushes the boundaries of mixed reality devices. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and securing the customized operating systems that power our unique edge compute devices operating in extreme environments. You will work with a diverse set of internal and external partners balancing application integration and security requirements.

Responsibilities:

1. Work with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features.
2. Contribute to the identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product area with little oversight.
3. Design, build, and automate the creation of Linux and Windows virtual machines to be used by multiple teams.
4. Create and implement code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable.
5. Contribute to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provide estimation.
6. Adhere to modern DevOps engineering practices, effective coding, writing unit test cases, debugging, code reviewing, and creating CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery) pipelines.
