Our client is pursuing consumer products and associated promotion because they believe it will drive meaningful show awareness & buzz with more tangible, curated ways to interact with their most popular content and, in effect, drive long-term value. They want merchandise, interactive games, and experiences to help promote their titles and build them into title brands, or franchises, so they become part of the zeitgeist for longer periods of time.

This Product Development Designer reports to the Global Product Development Hardlines lead and will be responsible for helping to drive the product design and development of multi-category for hardlines and softlines products for key retail partners from concept through to production.

What you will do:

  • Work with retail, licensing, and strategy leads to drive and influence the creative translation/extension of our titles into multi-category consumer products, with an eye on innovative, market-relevant development while ensuring alignment back to the properties.
  • Explore product trends, product strategies, and product design & development for multi-categories within hardlines and softlines, including but not exclusively plush, accessories, stationary, apparel, and seasonal products.
  • Build partnerships with licensees and brands, as well as internal CP teams and partners across the organization.
  • Align closely with the Consumer Products Global Hardlines lead and Art Director on all deliverables for product development and packaging.
  • Work with hardlines lead to support product development from creative vision and kickoff with partners, through to retail launch, ensuring the assortments are well designed and merchandised and that there is proper differentiation across retail.
  • Lead and guide licensees, retailers, and brands on how to translate our titles into successful products for all properties for which merchandise will be developed.
  • Develop creative product development tools and guidelines that help inspire and drive new and elevated ways of developing products and bringing products into the market.
  • Onboard licensees and collaborative partners into our internal systems and ensure timely asset deliveries.
  • Manage product approvals via internal systems ensuring high standards in storytelling, development, and execution.

What we need from you:

  • An urgency to ideate quickly and execute, repeatedly.
  • Demonstrated 3-5 years of experience in multi-category hardlines and softlines consumer products design and development, with a knowledge of both vertical and licensed product design.
  • Strong trending capabilities and ability to innovate.
  • Experience working with major studio title consumer product programs.
  • Diverse product development background with a focus on fans.

Pay Rate Range:

  • $55-60/hour on W-2
