Senior Project Engineer

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Design, specify, procure, install, and start-up support facilities, process equipment, site improvements and new operations. Includes scope development, equipment quotes and selection, bid packages, timetables, engineering contractor selection, construction contractor selection, equipment purchases and cost control.
• Provide technical support to plant operations, which may involve process design, operating procedures, troubleshooting difficulties, and improvement opportunities.
• Operation of pilot scale facilities to develop new products and processes as needed by business demands
• Perform a range of mass and energy balances, hydraulic analysis for sizing pumps, process modeling to help size equipment, and heat transfer calculations.
• Coordinate designs with Environmental, Transportation, and Safety inputs.
• Produce regular project summaries and updates for project stakeholders and company management.
• Management of plant/process construction which will include travel to the job site. (~50% travel)

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written
• Decision making ability and leadership skills
• Ability to work with multi-discipline projects
• Advanced MS Office skills, with ability to program in VBA a plus
• Time management and organizational skills
• Willingness to adapt to changing requirements in a small organization, including a wide range of tasks including field work, supervision, and detailed technical analysis
• Bachelor’s degree in either chemical or mechanical engineering
• Minimum of 8 years in engineering including project management, operations or process design.
• Sound knowledge of engineering theory and design criteria

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Be able to perform physical activities that require climbing stairs and ladders and working around industrial equipment.
• Be able to wear and work in Personal Protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
• Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds.
