About the Department: North Carolina State University is leading the charge as the recipient of a $39.4 million award from the Department of Defense to establish the regional Microelectronics Commons regional innovation hub, Commercial Leap Ahead for Wide Bandgap Semiconductors (CLAWS) . This initiative aims to revolutionize the field of wide bandgap semiconductors.
The CLAWS Hub is looking to hire two Senior Fabrication Engineers. The key responsibilities will include:
- Work in a cleanroom environment.
- Develop standard processes using semiconductor fabrication equipment, such as lithography tools, dry etchers, and metal deposition tools.
- Ensure that the standard processes meet the required specifications.
- Generate Standard Operating Procedure documents for semiconductor fabrication tools.
- Train users on fabrication tools.
- Interface with remote users and assist in process development.
- Install new semiconductor fabrication tools.
- Carry out preventative maintenance on tools.
- Troubleshoot fabrication tools to quickly identify problems.
- Work with CLAWS hardware engineer/technicians or external vendors to carry out minor repairs on tools.
- Arrange service visits for major repairs.
- Participate in safety audits to ensure fab is operated safely.
Other Responsibilities:
- Perform day-to-day tasks required to operate a multi-user facility, such as ordering and maintaining consumables inventory, contributing to housecleaning/lab organization, and maintaining documentation.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education and Experience:
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Science or Engineering discipline.
- Three or more years of experience working with semiconductor fabrication in a cleanroom environment.
Other Required Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to work independently and contribute positively to a team.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel.
- Comfortable working with semiconductor fabrication equipment.
- Comfortable working with students and safely with chemicals and compressed gas cylinders.
- Eligibility to obtain clearance upon request of the US government.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Science and Engineering discipline.
- Five or more years of experience working with semiconductor fabrication in a cleanroom environment.
Required License(s) or Certification(s):
Valid NC Driver's License required.
