About The Role
As a Mechanical Engineer at Whisper Aero, you will be focused on mechanical design, prototyping, and preparing designs for manufacturing. You will play a crucial role in developing concepts for future propulsors and test equipment, encompassing everything from first principles analysis to modeling and prototyping
What You'll Do
  • Design mechanical assemblies for ground and flight hardware.
  • Plan and execute builds for prototypes using diverse manufacturing methods.
  • Guide and collaborate with technicians in building prototype hardware.
  • Manage projects with external manufacturers, ensuring quality and timeliness.
  • Participate in design reviews and assist in propulsor assembly.
  • Delegate tasks to technicians and engage in various related tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent) with at least 4 years of related work experience, or a Master's degree with at least 1 year of related experience.
  • Hands-on experience in designing and building parts (CNC machining, composites, 3D printing, prototyping, mechanical assembly).
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of stress analysis and experience managing technicians' time and tasks.
  • Proficient with GD&T per ASME Y14 and experienced in creating tolerance stacks.
Bonus Qualifications
  • Experience with rotating parts and mechanical analysis (hand calculations, software).
  • Knowledge in sheet metal design and fabrication.
  • Expertise in bolted joint analyses.
