CES/AWS is looking for a Controls Engineer for a manufacturing client in Southfield, MI

Location: Southfield, MI

Pay: $95K to $105K/y + benefits

Direct Hire position

Job Summary:

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and approving electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls. You will also assist in developing control standards and technical manuals. The ideal candidate is capable of thriving in a high-volume CNC manufacturing environment and is passionate about innovation and problem-solving.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and development activities related to designing and testing control circuits, power requirements, programmable controls, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Assist operations in identifying and correcting control circuits and hydraulic and pneumatic systems issues.
  • Collaborate with vendors to specify control equipment necessary for machine operation or the development of new machinery.
  • Train plant personnel on technical subjects related to new/rebuild machinery processes and programmable controllers.
  • Coordinate with internal and external teams to design, develop, and install equipment according to specifications.
  • Develop and maintain company control specifications and participate in bid specification packages.
  • Oversee the design and installation of controls on retooled machines.
  • Ensure all control systems comply with applicable safety protocols.
  • Participate in equipment run-offs and engineering reviews.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of electronics, mechanical equipment, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to delegate responsibilities effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RS Logix 500 & 5000, Fanuc Ladder, Fanuc robot programming, Siemens, RS View Studio, and Panel Builder 32.
  • Problem-solving skills with a deep understanding of mechanics and machine functions.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
  • CNC experience is a must.
