Job Description:

Forge is seeking a Project Specialist to support the General Services Administration (GSA) as a Database Developer supporting complex database development, data migration, and systems analytics for the Office of Corporate Information Technology (IT) Services (IC) HR & Payroll IT Services Division (ICS).

Key Responsibilities : Key responsibilities of the candidate will be (but aren't limited to):

Technical Skills

  • Database Design: Develop and design database schemas, tables, and relationships to meet application requirements.
  • SQL Development: Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions to ensure efficient data retrieval and manipulation primarily in MySQL and Oracle with experience in RedShift (AWS) being a plus.
  • Database Optimization: Monitor and tune database performance, including indexing, query optimization, and resource management.
  • Data Integration: Integrate data from various sources, including ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes via Pentaho/PDI.
  • Database Security: Implement and maintain database security measures, including user roles, permissions, and encryption.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve database-related issues, including performance problems and data inconsistencies.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database designs, procedures, and changes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with application developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless database integration and functionality.

Analytical Skills

  • Problem-Solving : Ability to identify problems, analyze root causes, and propose effective solutions.
  • Critical Thinking : Skills to evaluate complex situations and make informed decisions.
  • Process Mapping : Proficiency in creating process flows, diagrams, and models using tools like Visio or Google Drawings.

Business Skills

  • Change Management : Knowledge of change management principles and how to apply them to support transitions.
  • Negotiation Skills : Ability to negotiate requirements, timelines, and resources with stakeholders and technical teams.

Communication Skills

  • Verbal Communication : Ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders clearly and concisely.
  • Written Communication : Proficiency in creating comprehensive and understandable documentation and reports.
  • Presentation Skills : Capability to present findings and recommendations effectively to different audiences.

Qualifications/Requirements:

The Candidate must have the ability to think strategically, act tactically, and display strong analytical and critical thinking skills. They must also build strong cross-group working relationships and demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. The Candidate must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • US Citizen
  • Bachelor's degree in IT related field, plus six (6) years of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrable experience in database development, data migration, and systems analysis projects.
  • Demonstrable experience in all required skills detailed above.
  • Ability to pass a Tier 2 background check for employment as a federal contractor.

Job: Full-time

Location: Remote (preferred location is the NCR - National Capital Region)

Salary Range: $118k-$129k/yr
