Mining Engineer - Job Summary


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Management Team and perform feasibility studies to investigate potential new sites for business development in aggregates and cement.
  • Perform periodic inspection and auditing of all TA aggregate and cement quarries to review. development and propose necessary modifications to current mining plans for optimum utilization of available resources. Aid in any compliance and regulatory issues of new and existing quarries.
  • Support of R&D, PMO, and business development teams in the management of multiple DOE decarbonization grants.
  • PMO responsibilities for the design and implementation of capital plans for new aggregate production facilities and development of new quarries.
  • Provide input to PMOs regarding budget and schedule preparation of major projects and supervise site and soil survey works to estimate available reserves and the life of potential mining sites.
  • Direct management of core drilling activities across TA sites and exploration, including in-field supervision through geologic model updates.
  • Creation of mid and long-range mine plans for Cement and aggregate quarries.
  • Assist operations teams in short-term mine planning activities.
  • Oversight of yearly reclamation plans.
  • Keep track of any regulatory and legislation changes regarding the mining of existing quarries.
  • Drone Surveying of operations and projects, and production of maps and inventories from data.
  • Develop and publish Key Performance Indicator Reports for aggregate and cement quarries to assist management in identifying cost reduction and process improvement opportunities.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • B.S. Degree in Mining Engineering is required; registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE).
  • 3-5 years experience as a Mining Engineer in the industrial minerals sector, with aggregates or cement experience preferred.
  • Part 107 FAA Drone license or ability to obtain.
  • Experience with GPS surveying equipment and GIS systems.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Vulcan, Carlson software, and aggregate facilities modeling with AggFlow or other computer-aided design packages will be considered a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs required (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Must possess strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
