Asset Care Excellence Reliability Engineer

The ACE Reliability Engineer is responsible for asset maintenance, reliability, and outage scope guidance, overseeing overall area asset care. This role acts as the liaison between production, maintenance, engineering, and third-party subject matter experts to ensure plant reliability, increase equipment availability, and optimize asset capacity utilization (OEE). The engineer leads and coordinates efforts within the Operations/Production Department and provides organization, planning, and direction for maintenance, reliability, production/capital improvements, and technical documentation for assigned areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply the principles of Asset Care Excellence (ACE), ensuring technical means for safe operation and compliance programs are integrated into all work aspects.
  • Ensure that process-related equipment maintenance systems and programs are in place and operate efficiently, meeting or exceeding regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct Pareto analyses of maintenance costs and repair frequencies, utilizing OEE loss analysis to identify underperforming assets and develop measures for improvement or replacement.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional teams (e.g., Reliability Centered Maintenance, Root Cause Analysis, Six Sigma, and Equipment Improvement Teams).
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports summarizing major maintenance, reliability activities, and ongoing capital projects.
  • Lead the capital project input and budgeting process for the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Execute maintenance work orders, ensuring work quality metrics are met and that operators are reporting all plant issues. Set daily/weekly maintenance scheduling priorities, working to reduce emergency work orders and callouts.
  • Lead and coordinate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations for significant reliability incidents, ensuring corrective actions are assigned and tracked.
  • Manage mechanical equipment-related maintenance not covered by the Mechanical Integrity program, including plant, workshop, inventory, clerical, and planning activities. Maintain and improve necessary documentation, such as specifications and equipment records.
  • Coordinate plant changes, both equipment and process, to improve OEE, yields, reliability, and process quality, collaborating with Maintenance, Production, or other departments.
  • Ensure prompt and effective reporting and investigation of accidents/incidents, serving as lead or participant in significant incident investigations in assigned areas.
  • Develop and enhance a reliability strategy focused on proactive maintenance, Turnaround, and capital spending, prioritizing the most critical equipment. This includes identifying critical spare parts, enhancing preventive maintenance programs, and planning asset preservation and rationalization projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Experience within the chemical, process, or petrochemical industry.
  • Experience working with production personnel, with the ability to teach and mentor production and maintenance teams.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles is required.
  • The role requires a combination of theoretical technical knowledge, analytical thinking, and process experience to solve maintenance, process, and technical project challenges.
