Play a critical role in the development of new life sciences technology as a characterization engineer in the R&D Impact Engineering group, enabling our products to realize their promise to improve human health. Guide the project teams though boundary definition, subsystem analysis, noise parameter prioritization, DOE development, fixture design, construction, and qualification, test execution, and data analysis. Assess program and technical risk through data-driven statistical analysis. Be a facilitator of best practices to ensure robust design, thorough risk assessment, and cross-functional transparency and alignment. Be an ambassador of customer experience, design quality, and reliability. Primary duties include the following:

•                      Develop and drive the subsystem characterization testing workflow for R&D.

•                      Construct characterization plans using Six Sigma tools and best practices.

•                      Facilitate and direct multidisciplinary technical discussions using P-diagrams, fishbone diagrams, 5 Whys analysis, FMEA, and more.

•                      Use DOE framework to ensure a thorough assessment of design capability.

•                      Author detailed test protocols and reports.

•                      Design and oversee the construction of text fixtures.

•                      Troubleshoot system and fixture failures and issues as necessary.

•                      Qualify test fixtures with GR&R.

•                      Analyze test data and feed the results back to the design teams.

•                      Escalate top issues by providing clear, well-structured, high-level updates.

•                      Be a champion for best practices in R&D.

Minimum Qualifications:

•           A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline.

•           Basic statistical knowledge.

•           A minimum of 5 years of experience performing tests to collect experimental data and performing statistical analyses to interpret results.

•           Willingness to prepare blood samples for testing (training will be provided).

•           Excellent communication skills.

•           Demonstrated ability to utilize test and measurement equipment.

•           Demonstrated ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy.

In addition to the above minimum qualifications, the following are considered highly desirable:

•           Knowledge of fluidic, optical, and/or electro-mechanical systems.

•           Problem solving experience in a multidisciplinary environment with engineers and scientists.

•           Experience managing large sets of data using data processing tools such as Minitab or MATLAB.

•           Experience with automation (Lab view, Arduino).

•           Experience utilizing FMEA to guide team discussions and priorities.

•           Technical writing for the preparation of protocols, plans, and reports.

• Experience with Agile and/or Six Sigma tools and practices.
