Engineer Sr - Electrical

Overview:

Reporting to the Supervisor of Electrical Engineering, this position provides electrical technical support for submarine construction activities at the Electric Boat (EB) Quonset Point (QP) facility in North Kingstown, RI.

In this role, the candidate will proactively assist trade personnel to overcome construction problems and facilitate resolution of design issues for all electrical work performed at EB QP.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide engineering oversight and assistance to trade personnel.
2. Evaluate emergent shipyard issues that arise during construction and efficiently develop technically acceptable resolutions via disposition of Engineering Reports (ERs) and Test Inspection Report (TIR) UNSATs.
3. Interpret design, drawing, and specification requirements.
4. Lead multidisciplinary engineering evaluations.
5. Facilitate discipline-specific knowledge transfer to the construction support engineering team.
6. Coordinate engagement of design and engineering subject matter experts (SMEs) in the construction sequence as required.
7. Perform evaluations for “as-built” configurations as required.
8. Perform surveillances of manufacturing, inspection, and testing of trade work in the Quonset Point shipyard.
9. Regularly interface with trade personnel, management, and on-site Customer (Navy) representatives.

Qualifications:

Required:

1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
2. Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience is required.
3. Candidates must possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Preferred Skills / Experience:

1. Prior deck plate construction engineering experience is highly desirable.
2. Prior experience working with US Navy submarines/ships.
3. Familiarity with Electronic Desktop (7G, Work Orders, ELCADD, ERS, etc.).
4. Familiarity with Team Center and JCALS.

Skills:

1. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are required.
2. This position requires physical interfacing in manufacturing shops and on submarine modules, including climbing and accessing confined spaces.
3. Candidates should be highly motivated team players.
