Overview

The Electrical Engineer will support capital projects from conceptual design through commissioning and act as the primary resource for electrical systems expertise across our operations in the USA, Canada, and South America. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to enhance technical knowledge and project outcomes.


Responsibilities

  • Provide technical advice on equipment selection, configuration, and troubleshooting for transformers, switchgear, MCCs, starters, VFDs, motors, and feeders.
  • Develop project electrical and engineering scopes of work, estimates, specifications, control narratives, and conceptual designs in collaboration with Operations, Process, and Project Management Teams.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in electrical engineering, supporting system design, engineering reviews, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist in power loading analysis, device coordination, arc flash safety, energy usage, and short circuit studies.
  • Review and approve work from external engineering consultants, including diagrams, drawings, specifications, RFQs, and vendor documentation.
  • Support Operations by troubleshooting process control systems and proposing performance improvement projects.
  • Direct and coordinate internal and external project resources.
  • Oversee commissioning of electrical systems, ensuring vendor compliance and complete documentation.
  • Uphold safety, environmental, and engineering standards.
  • Implement consistent goals and tasks across the Americas operations.
  • Interface with equipment and system integration vendors.
  • Support training initiatives, including the apprentice program and electrical safety training.
  • Ensure electrical systems' safety and reliability, adhering to all relevant codes and standards.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or Associate's degree with relevant experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in electrical and instrumentation, preferably in lime, cement, or bulk material handling industries; project engineering experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in industrial power tasks such as power factor correction, grounding, motor tests, power quality, electrical protection settings, VFD configuration, and instrument calibration.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code and other NFPA Electrical Standards; familiarity with MSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Proficiency in process control instrumentation, calibration, and troubleshooting; familiarity with HMI and PLC programs, particularly Wonderware and ControlLogix.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and root-cause analysis capabilities for medium and low-voltage systems.
  • Ability to travel up to 35% domestically, with some international travel, including extended assignments during critical construction and start-up periods.

  • Up to $130,000 base salary per annum
