The Position:
The Information Security Engineer holds a pivotal position in protecting Walbec’s digital assets and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive information. This role involves collaboration with various company departments, including IT, Legal, Risk, and management teams. The Information Security Engineer will also drive the ongoing development and implementation of security policies based on the organization’s security roadmap.
Governance and Control:
- Policies: Establish proper governance to control and proactively spot problems and changes in underlying systems’ risk profiles. Ensuring that technology solutions adhere to companywide risk and regulatory standards as part of the responsibility.
- Security Framework: Develop a framework for integrated technology control that balances business needs, risk reduction, and financial gains.
- Collaboration: Work closely with various control roles, including software developers, business managers, compliance, and internal audit.
- Security Roadmap: Work with IT leadership to develop, coordinate, and manage security-related project work.
Security and Risk Analysis:
- Participates in a wide range of security activities including vulnerability management, access management, incident response, troubleshooting, infrastructure management, audit support, and more.
- Analyze Walbec systems to identify and address potential security risks through all stages of the system lifecycle, including concept, design, build, test, integration, operation, maintenance, and disposal.
Configure, Test, and Support:
- Implement and maintain security protocols and procedures to protect information systems and data.
- Manage security incidents responding swiftly to contain breaches and restore normalcy after an incident.
- Oversee security systems to identify new threats or areas requiring updates while staying abreast of the latest security trends.
- Integrate new features into existing solutions and provide analysis to evaluate existing systems against future needs and trends.
- Proactively identify, assess, and manage inherent risks in systems.
- Collaborate with other internal teams and external stakeholders to design, adopt, and integrate appropriate controls.
Education and Awareness:
- Provide clear direction to business and technology stakeholders so they can manage their risks effectively.
- Foster a culture of risk awareness and control.
Internal Audit:
- Work with IT teams, end users, and third parties to facilitate periodic testing of systems, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify potential vulnerabilities.

The Candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity/related major OR an equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training in network security and security compliance.
- 5 years of progressive growth & experience in Information Security.
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional desired.
- Broad knowledge of a wide range of Information Technology systems and a deep understanding of the inherent security risks associated with these technologies.
- Strong technical knowledge of IT hybrid on-premise and cloud architectures, as well as Microsoft Office 365 products, mobile device technologies, and MDM platforms.
- Experience with Microsoft Defender, Intune, or Rapid7 is preferred.
- Willingness to stay current with the latest technologies.
- Knowledge of applicable security, data privacy practices, and laws.
- Understanding of network security principles, including firewall configurations, network traffic analysis, and risk management.
- Ability to interpret and apply security standards in all applicable network security environments.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
