Position Overview
The Process Engineer creates automated systems for use in a production and manufacturing environment. Collaborates with departmental and management to determine existing automation capabilities and future opportunities, creating detailed project road maps for automation projects that support business objectives.
Primary responsibilities
  • Identifies opportunities through automation and process innovation to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Collaborates with plant personnel (Maintenance and Production) on problem solving activities, cost reduction initiatives and performance efficiency improvements of manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Supports Maintenance and Production to meet daily production targets
  • Collects production data and applies standard scientific and statistical methods to analyze, document, and diagram production processes.
  • Monitoring and measuring of manufacturing processes
  • Support day-to-day operations to meet business needs
  • Support process automation strategy, configuration, and ongoing support needs associated with migration project
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline work, improve operability and quality, and reduce cost
  • Guide and train area personnel on process methodology in order to assist process control improvement effort
  • Assist unit technology teams to develop and implement long range plans for process control improvements
  • Support or lead process related activities of capital and improvement projects
  • Provide process checkout and start-up support of facilities in order to meet production schedules and meet business needs
Required Education and Experience
  • S. degree in engineering, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct manufacturing experience with automated and semi-automated manufacturing equipment and processes. Experience utilizing software programs for Automation; Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Industrial Robots, or similar control and automation products.
  • Deep understanding of Lean Manufacturing, ISO quality procedures, and mechanical and electrical assembly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Experience in a process-related role preferred
  • Battery manufacturing experience preferred
  • Working knowledge and understanding of engineering software
  • Direct experience implementing Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Working knowledge of control systems
  • Experience programming industrial robots
  • Experience performing and/or directing the design, development, installation, cost control, and evaluation of complex engineering projects.
