Northrop Grumman Deployables Group has an opening for a Tool Engineer/ Principal Tool Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Goleta, CA or Oxnard, CA.

We're seeking a motivated team player to lead and assist in the development and implementation of tooling activities to support production & test. The typical candidate has a background/experience/education in manufacturing/mechanical engineering, design, graphics, writing/illustration, views, and animation.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordination of design and fabrication requirements for tools and fixtures with customers, both internal and external

  • Coordinate/develop & execute test plans

  • Performing tolerance analysis to ensure form/fit/function

  • Conduct root cause failure investigations and implement associated corrective actions

  • Develop & evaluate process improvements

  • Assist Product Development Team with new product designs to ensure manufacturability, include GSE requirements, validate process/technology.

  • Developing manufacturing processes, plans, and procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment.

  • Managing all phases of project: design, document, fabricate, assemble and validate.

  • Execute to the IMS and DRP (Drawing Release Plan)

Core Competencies

  • Manufacturing Methods - Knowledge of manufacturing methods, fabrication processes (e.g., forming, stamping, machining, heat treatment).

  • Project Management – Exhibit the ability for project management and leadership.

  • Computer Aided Design Tools - Basic knowledge of computer aided design tools and systems (e.g., CAD/CAM, NX, CREO, SolidWorks).

  • Engineering Drawings & Specs - Basic ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Basic Qualifications for Tool Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s STEM Degree with 2 years of experience OR Master's STEM Degree with 0 years of experience in Engineering Design.

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance.

  • Ability to work on location (Oxnard & Goleta) any shift.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Tool Engineer:

  • 5 Years with Bachelors in STEM Degree; 3 Years with Masters.

  • Experience in medium to large-scale tooling fabrication and/or production fabrication.

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance.

  • Ability to work on location (Oxnard & Goleta) any shift.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

  • Direct Aerospace Tooling experience.

  • Direct Experience with NX and/or CREO and SolidWorks.

  • ASME Certificate in GD&T ASME 14.5-2018.

Salary Range: $79,300 - $118,900

Salary Range 2: $97,500 - $146,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers.
