JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title : Lead Engineer

Reports To : Manager Testing

Role Type : Individual Contribution

Role Purpose

To conceptualize, develop, and carry out Tests on SKF Products for Automotive applications by following SKF Global Test procedures through leading and guiding workmen to achieve Testing goals/objectives with optimum utilization of the resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement SKF global test procedures for testing SKF products for Automotive applications.
  • Lead and guide Technicians on performing testing activities and resetting of testing machines and aid in Test report preparation.
  • Interact with External Customers to clearly understand test specifications.
  • Interact and communicate with Internal customers & local & global stakeholders regularly to ensure completion of Tests within the agreed deadlines.
  • Provide on-the-job training to workmen to ensure continual competency upskilling aligned with growing business requirements.
  • Map and implement current & future testing & rig requirements to secure business needs.
  • Liaison with external testing facilities and suppliers for test development needs.
  • Be a TPM leader for Automotive Testing Zone and enforce shop floor discipline and 5S Implementation.
  • Actively participate in Six Sigma Projects on improving operating efficiency and productivity of the testing team.
  • Innovate and bring new ideas on Testing procedures.
  • Provide counseling for workmen on behavior & work-related matters.
  • Proactively participate in spares and consumables stock level management to ensure that there is no stoppage of testing.

Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical or Automotive stream.
  • Around 8-10 years of experience in product Design/Development/Research/Quality/Application Engineer/Testing from the automotive industry (cars, trucks, tractors, etc.).
  • Minimum of 3 years of exposure to Testing. Hands-on experience in Automotive Testing and basic knowledge of Hydraulics and Pneumatics would be an added advantage.
  • Strong Knowledge of Designing software such as Creo, etc.
  • Data Interpretation & Analytical Skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Quality management systems such as TS:16949 and ISO:17025.
  • Exposure to Testing Machine Design & Development would be an advantage.
  • Good Team player.
