Position Overview
Mach9 is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Solutions Engineer to join our growing commercial team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in driving global adoption of the Mach9 Digital Surveyor, working alongside a world-class sales, product, and engineering organization.
As the technical expert, you will support technical sales efforts to enterprises in the geospatial industry, providing guidance throughout the sales process—from initial inquiry to onboarding and post-sale support. You will bridge the gap between customers and engineering teams, helping to integrate and transform their geospatial production workflows and building the fastest tools to make maps. While scaling our presence in the geospatial industry, you will help build the foundations for Solutions Engineering at Mach9.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Collaboration:
Technical Leader: Become the subject matter authority on Mach9 products. Know the features of our annotation platform, what our AI feature extraction product does, and how this all interacts with typical customer needs and articulate the value added benefits to customers throughout the sales process.
Technical Sales Support: Support sales and post-sales functions (pre-sale by running technical product demonstrations, responding to advanced technical questions, writing technical proposals / responding to RFPs, conducting training, and integrating systems. Manage and support value assessments and proof of concept implementations.
Solution Design: Work with engineering and customers to understand their technical environments and provide expert guidance on solution design, integration, and implementation strategies.
Sales Enablement : Partner with the sales team to ensure they have the tools, knowledge, and resources needed to effectively sell the product. Develop sales enablement materials such as product demos, training sessions, and technical documentation that highlight product features and benefits.
Post-Sales Support:
Training & Onboarding: Drive technical onboarding + implementation for Mach9’s transformative solutions for the geospatial industry. Develop training and onboarding plans for accounts and contribute to documentation and training materials.
Technical Documentation : Manage the creation and maintenance of technical documentation and develop processes to keep customers updated on Mach9’s capabilities.
Product Development Collaboration
Customer-Driven Product Development: Engage with customers to gather feedback, understand their pain points, and validate product delivery.
Mach9 Subject Matter Expertise: Become an expert in all things Mach9. Know the features of our annotation platform, what our perception product does, and how this all interacts with typical customer needs.
Commercial-Engineering Alignment: Participate in commercial and engineering synchronization sessions led by Product Management to align technical capabilities with market demands and customer needs.
Marketing Collaboration
Content Collaboration : Collaborate with the marketing team to refine our technical narrative that highlights the capabilities and benefits of Mach9’s products, such as white papers, case studies, webinars, and technical blogs.
Industry Engagement: Represent Mach9 at industry conferences, trade shows, and webinars, presenting with customers.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering / technical discipline, such as Computer Science / Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or similar level of job experience.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
3-5 years of experience in a Solutions Engineering, Pre-Sales Engineering, Sales Engineering, or similar technical sales role at an enterprise SaaS company. Similar levels of experience in an engineering role at a professional software development company with strong communications skills are still encouraged to apply.
Fast learner: can quickly learn and explain complex technical concepts and operate in a rapid product development environment.
High attention to detail / organization to plan, coordinate, and execute on many projects simultaneously.
Analytical / engineering mindset with the ability to quickly identify and resolve technical challenges, tailoring solutions to meet customer needs.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, sales, and marketing, to deliver successful outcomes for customers.
Ability to travel domestically or internationally 25-50%
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in selling or supporting highly technical or complex products in industries such as engineering, construction, finance, healthcare, telecommunications, or manufacturing.
You've been a first or early hire at a fast-growing startup before.
Programming and scripting experience with languages such as Python and JavaScript.
Basic understanding of artificial intelligence/machine learning concepts.
