Job Title: Tooling MachinistJob DescriptionThe ideal candidate will have extensive experience in setting up, fabricating, and maintaining tooling for production equipment. This role involves evaluating and repairing vinyl tooling, coordinating with outside vendors, and ensuring the proper setup and operation of production machinery.ResponsibilitiesSet tooling into production equipment, ensuring proper setup and operation.Fabricate tooling replacements as needed.Evaluate vinyl tooling in need of repair and coordinate with outside vendors for repairs.Receive repaired tooling and ensure it was properly fixed; track tooling repairs to evaluate turnaround time and cost.Study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.Compute dimensions, plan layout, and determine assembly method and sequence of operations.Set up and operate lathes, mills, and grinders to machine parts.Fabricate assemblies for production machinery from various materials including sheet metal, structural steel, and bar stocks.Examine standard or previously used dies, tools, jigs, fixtures, and machinery components, and recommend design changes.Perform general maintenance including plumbing, machine repair, general diagnostics, pneumatics, hydraulics, rigging, and facilities maintenance.Perform housekeeping duties.Essential Skills3-5 years of tooling experience or 5 years of CNC lathe experience with a willingness to train into the tooling role.Ability to read and interpret blueprints/schematics.Proficiency in pneumatics, hydraulics, and tooling.Experience with lathes, mills, and grinders.Own basic tools.Additional Skills & QualificationsJourneyman card.Technical degree or certification.Work EnvironmentThis role operates in a non-climate-controlled environment with older equipment.
