Instrument & Electrical Technician

Location: Lafayette, LA

Position Type: 6 months contract, could go longer

Pay: $30-$35/HR


The E&I Technician's main focus is on the installation, testing, calibration, tuning, maintenance, repair, and modification of all plant electrical, instrument, and control systems at the highest level of skill.

Job Responsibilities

  • Creating and revising Instrument drawings throughout the design and MOC processes
  • Assembling Instrument design packages that will be utilized for construction purposes
  • Providing design assistance throughout all phases of projects
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving: diagnosing and resolving issues with instrumentation, controls and electrical equipment, often collaborating with other tradespeople and engineers.
  • Safety and compliance: Must adhere to safety procedures and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for themselves and others.
  • Technical manual and drawing reading and interpretation: Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings and equipment manuals to understand the specifications and requirements for installation and repair.

Skills:

  • High-school education or GED with a Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in an industrial environment and/ or the equivalent combination of vocational training and experience.
  • A demonstrated high level of experience and skill for the E&I Tech/Mechanic craft is required, this can be achieved by obtaining acceptable or satisfactory scores on courses or tests imparted by NCCER, Ramsey, trade schools or other nationally recognized E&I Tech/Mechanic craft training organization combined with observed field experience or bench testing.
  • Experience on the following types of instrumentation and electrical equipment is preferred: Pressure, Flow, Level, and Temperature instruments and transmitters, 480V Electrical Motors, automated valves (mechanical and pneumatic), PLC control systems, Burner Control systems Air Compressors, Belt-driven Equipment, Rotary Valves.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform complex system repair/trouble shooting using limited information and instructions
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret schematics, logic drawings, or other prints or drawings as necessary.
