Group Director, Software Engineering

Our Team (Data Ventures Technology):

Our Data Ventures Technology team is part of Walmart Global Tech. We are a group of engineers and data scientists. We are building the next generation retail analytics and insights platform to deliver performance and value at scale. We provide the brands with actionable retail analytics to serve their customers better. We build advanced Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technology on Walmart’s proprietary online and in-store data to deploy these solutions.

What you will do:

1. Lead a team of senior engineering leaders and architects to deliver the next-gen retail analytics platforms globally.
2. Partner with product, operation, and sales leaders to contribute and execute the product and technology roadmap.
3. Hire, develop and build a world-class engineering organization.
4. Proactively monitor, identify and solve customer issues.
5. Establish a culture of product innovation, platform thinking, and Engineering Excellence.

What you will bring:

1. Domain expertise in running large-scale B2B systems with high availability. Expertise in Retail Analytics, AdTech, and/or large-scale Data systems is preferred.
2. 10+ years of experience in running a large (200+) engineering organization and managing senior engineering leaders and architects.
3. Working knowledge of multiple distributed technologies (e.g. GCP/Azure, Spark/Storm, Kafka, Key Value Stores, Caching, Solr, Druid, etc.)
4. Strong collaboration and communication skills.
5. Experience in influencing across functional boundaries.
6. Proven ability to hire, mentor, and grow top engineering talents.
7. BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, and 20+ years of industry experience.
8. Previous startup experience in Retail Analytics, Data, AdTech, and/or eCommerce.
9. Biased towards innovation.
10. Customer empathy.

Minimum Qualifications:
Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 8 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Option 2: 10 years’ experience in software engineering or related area. 5 years' supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 6 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
