Job Title: Sr. AWS DevOps Engineer

Location: Chicago, Illinois (Onsite Role)

Duration: 6 months

Description:

The DevOps Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining the global enterprise platforms, maintaining the templates for the monitoring systems, integration to BigPanda, the quality of the alerting into the BigPanda eventing platform, CMDB integration, monitoring Best Practices for AWS cloud.

Responsibilities:

  1. 10+ years working in Information Technology
  2. 4+ years running production systems on AWS
  3. Experience with site monitoring and log monitoring tools, specifically Datadog.
  4. Certified AWS SysOps Administrator a plus.
  5. Experience with TypeScript & JavaScript
  6. Experience with DynamoDB, S3 and Cognito
  7. Good understanding of Serverless and CloudFormation
  8. Understanding of best practices for AWS, EC2, Couchbase and monitoring of containers
  9. Manages capacity planning, updates, upgrades and internal integration.
  10. Responsible for administration of monitoring tools in the APM space
  11. Coordinates with DevOps, Problem Management, etc escalations to support monitoring
  12. Manages uptime and availability and reporting
  13. Mentor, educate, and train support personnel on how to use tools
  14. Maintains knowledge on current technology by reading technology periodicals, evaluating new technologies and attending trade-shows, technical seminars and training sessions.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned and required.

Required Qualifications - Knowledge/Skills:

  1. Manage monitoring of overall application availability, latency and system health
  2. Determine alert standards for production environments and implement them
  3. Develop strategies for logging and indexing to improve visibility to development teams
  4. Develop and manage configuration scripts for Amazon hosted infrastructure
  5. Work with the development team and management to ensure high availability
  6. Familiarity with configuration management software such as Ansible
  7. Build reporting dashboards to assist visibility of cost and stability
  8. Provide support to teams for alarms and outages on an as-needed basis
  9. Experience with Windows Server, IIS, Docker/Kubernetes
  10. Strong understanding of systems, networks and troubleshooting techniques.
  11. Experience in automated build pipeline, and continuous integration. Source control, branching, & merging: git/svn/etc (Repository Management)
