Senior Database Infrastructure Engineer

Platform Services Operations is looking for a motivated and solution focused Senior Engineer with database experience to join us to boost effectiveness, accelerate delivery and enhance the product. Based in Manassas, VA, you will be working alongside a dynamic team of engineers working on development & maintenance of oracle database infrastructure in Swift. Your team is fully responsible for the design, optimization and life cycle management of the Oracle database platform within Swift.

What to expect

In this role you will:

1. Resolve complex problems by investigating and supporting the critically important applications consuming these database services
2. Automate installations procedures, configuration and maintenance of the database infrastructure
3. Develop and integrate third party components including system testing and monitoring
4. Contribute to new development and designing solutions for service operations as well as maintenance of existing complex database infrastructure
5. Opportunities to lead and participate in design discussions, code walkthrough meetings
6. Ensure compliance to Swift security best practices and coding standards
7. Ensure compliance to Swift database reference architecture and requirement/ design artefacts
8. Ensure compliance to Swift development and release methodologies (CM as well as CI/CD)
9. Provide TOI (Transfer of Information) and technical guidance as necessary to team members
10. Support set-up of test environment, write unit test driver, functional drivers.
11. This position offers flexible work between onsite and remote (At least 2 days working onsite)

What will make you successful?

We are seeking professionals with:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
2. 5 + years of experience as a database engineer
3. Good understanding and experience with multitenant (19c CDB and PDB) oracle database infrastructure
4. Solid understanding and experience in implementing different facets of Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA) such as Active Data Guard, zero downtime patching, or Multitenant MAA
5. Exposure and 3+ years of experience with DevOps practices and toolset with strong focus on automation of provisioning, quality controls, security auditing and maintenance
6. Hands on experience with Automation/Scripting (Ansible, Python, Robot framework etc) and CI/CD tooling, including Jenkins, CloudBees, Nexus, Bitbucket/git, or equivalent
7. Experience with RHEL operating system and bash/shell scripting
8. Analytical skills to resolve operational problems within the defined schedules and SLAs.
9. Strong communication skills (Both Written & Oral)
10. Agile mindset and be able to work in a fast paced environment, as well experience with Agile/Scrum tooling including Jira, Confluence, or equivalent

Preferred qualifications:

1. Experience with Oracle Golden Gate replication architecture
2. Knowledge on Oracle Advanced Security, Transparent Data Encryption and Database Vault
3. Knowledge of TLS/SSL and configuration of Oracle Wallet
4. Additional knowledge of Real Application Clusters, Fleet patching are added on

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position in Virginia is $92,120.00 USD Annual MINIMUM to $171,080.00 USD Annual MAXIMUM. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
