CAD Engineer

Summary : The CAD Engineer is responsible for designing and preparing drawings for the installation of equipment, preparing equipment layout drawings, developing site plans, and overseeing and maintaining the computerized drawing filing system.

Essential Functions: 

• Prepare original building floor plans on new or existing buildings or site plans.
• Create designs for the application of customized vendor equipment into NWF applications.
• Complete and review engineering change requests to update and correct existing drawings.
• Record all changes and resubmit to engineer in charge of project.
• Insure that designs comply with all standards.
• Update and maintain electronic document library of drawings.
• Initiate the purchasing process (preparing purchase requisitions) for equipment and services.
• Approve project-related invoices for payment.
• Insure contactors comply with Newly Weds Foods equipment, construction, and safety standards.
• Implement, plan, develop, organize and complete small projects within the area of assigned product designation, preliminary construction and commissioning.        
• Report to management both verbally and in written form.
• Make final sketch of proposed drawing, checking dimensions of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure of project.
• Draw charts for representation of statistical data or purchasing data as specified by engineer.
• Utilize knowledge of various drafting packages and software to complete drawings.
• Complete assignments in a timely manner.
• Some travel may be required.
• Perform other duties or special projects as needed.

Qualifications: 

• Require an Associate of Arts Degree in Engineering, Drafting, Design or a related area.  
• Two years drafting experience in Mechanical drafting techniques and standards, familiar with architectural, piping, electrical and structural drafting techniques.
• Ability to use two dimensional AutoCAD and knowledge of other computer aided design software. 
• Prior working knowledge of GMP’s, OSHA and FDA would be beneficial to this position.
• Strong communication, analytical abilities, organization skills and general knowledge of Adobe applications, Microsoft 0ffice and Lotus Notes.
