About the role
The Director of Electrical Operations & Maintenance (O&M) will lead and manage the electrical team in the maintenance and implementation of cutting-edge electrical systems and practices. The role requires oversight of all electrical activities at Riot locations, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and in line with industry standards. This leadership position also includes working closely with cross-functional teams to align the electrical systems with the overall operations strategy. The Director of Electrical will report to the VP of Operations.
This role is based in Rockdale, Texas or Corsicana, Texas with frequent travel between the sites.
Essential Functions
- Lead and manage a team of electrical superintendents at multiple sites in the maintenance and operation of electrical equipment and systems thereby improving safety and availability including:
- Develop and implement effective PPM programs that utilize state of the art equipment and techniques.
- Develop effective skill focused training programs for employees.
- Determine and monitor appropriate spare parts inventory.
- Develop and train required support staff for electrical maintenance functions.
- Develop department metrics & track performance.
- Develop appropriate level schedules for critical activities. Track and report progress.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience a plus.
- Minimum of 10+ years of industrial electrical maintenance experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Master Electrician License a plus.
- Proven experience in project management, team leadership, and mentoring.
- Strong knowledge of electrical maintenance best practices and electrical safety, electrical power systems, instrumentation & controls with embedded systems, and basic electrical and control circuit design & analysis.
- Possess advanced problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Familiar with customary power and electrical test equipment.
- Experience with industry standards and regulatory compliance (e.g., OSHA, NEC, NFPA).
- Prior industrial experience in specific industries such as bitcoin, data centers, aerospace, renewable energy, power generation, manufacturing, or electrical utilities and infrastructure.
- Ability to travel up to 30%.
