Airswift is seeking a Principal Process Engineer to work with our LNG client in Houston, TX .
The Senior Process Engineer reports to the Staff Process Engineer, Engineering & Construction, and will advise on all matters related to the process design and process technology within E&C projects. Experience in Process Safety to support Process Safety team in design within E&C projects is desirable. The Senior Process Engineer is part of a multi-discipline Engineering Team providing Oversight over Project Design, Project Permitting, Construction, Commissioning, Start-up, and Operations support after handover for projects managed within the E&C Department.
Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of the principles of fluid flow, heat transfer, thermodynamics, mass transfer, and hydrocarbon process chemistry.
- Familiar with the hazards of hydrocarbon processes and the methods used to keep process facilities safe. Knowledge of LNG process engineering and design.
- Knowledge of Process Safety for gas processing, natural gas and LNG (or other cryogenic hydrocarbon liquids) transportation and storage is a plus.
- Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations and their implementation in facility design.
- Competent in the use of process simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS and Unisim Design.
- Knowledge of current LNG technologies in design or Construction.
- Knowledge of NRU and Carbon Capture technologies.
- Knowledge of Process Hazard Analysis including HAZID, HAZOPS, LOPA and facility siting studies.
- Provide process/process safety engineering support and technical assurance for the design of LNG, NRU, and Carbon Capture projects preferably through the full life cycle of project to EPC including as needed support to Construction, Commissioning, Start-up, and Operation of the LNG plant and/or new process units installed in the facility.
- Teamwork with other Discipline Engineers in management of Engineering Contractors in the design and development of Capital Projects.
- Support Regulatory and Environmental departments in the preparation and submittal of resource reports for timely project permitting requirements.
- Provide Process Safety support of projects through participation in Process Hazard Analysis and studies, HAZIDS, HAZOPS, LOPA, Facility siting studies and Pre-Start-up Safety reviews.
- Ability to understand and if needed develop process simulations in Aspen HYSYS in support of Project Design reviews and Corporate Strategic planning and development.
- Familiar with Process and Process Safety Industry standards and specifications used in design including API and NFPA.
- Provide Process/Process Safety Engineering guidance to other departments or stakeholders including Corporate Development and Strategy.
- Development of Process Basis of Design, Technical Statement of Requirements and Project design scopes.
- Play the role of the Senior Process/Process Safety Engineer for E&C projects,
- Visit plant sites as needed to understand project layout, Brownfield issues, walkdowns, and to coordinate with site Operations.
- Work with Technology vendors Conoco Phillips (COP), BASF, Chart and others for design development and technology options.
- Work with O&M department to assure Operations interests and Lessons Learned are captured on major projects.
- Support procedure development and training related to capital projects, temporary or new modes of operation, and compliance.
- Provide project support through technical reviews of the process design and reviewing contractor's deliverables including PFDs, UFDs, P&IDs, HMBs, process calculations, process descriptions, process control narratives, datasheets, vendor drawings, etc. and facility model reviews.
- Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering.
- A Professional Engineer's (PE) License is a plus.
- Minimum Seven (7+) years' experience in engineering design, Contractor management and/or operations experience preferred.
- Experience on LNG projects and/or operating LNG facility is preferred.
- Experience in Process Safety studies is preferred.

- Organized, planning skills, able to manage multiple activities and programs in timely fashion and with a high degree of accuracy, able to meet work deadlines.
- Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills.
- Computer savvy including Project Management, database, Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, and HYSYS computer process simulation.
