TSC is seeking a System Safety Engineer, in Dayton OH, Dallas TX, Huntsville AL or REMOTE This position supports the Airborne Solutions and ISR (AISR) Division

Responsibilities:

Ability to learn aircraft and ground station subsystems and become an expert on how the systems work as a whole.

Support safety analysis of aircraft (manned and unmanned) production and employment.

In this individual contributor role, the successful candidate will organize a cross-functional, integrated Reliability and System Safety team to support both customer risk acceptance, and airworthiness requirements in support of the chief engineer.

Travel requirements - 25% on average with possible surge requirements

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Development and maintenance of a System Safety Program Plan to include Preliminary Hazard Analysis, Functional Hazard Analysis, System Safety Analysis / Safety Assessment Report, clear and concise system safety requirements, and support of the Hazard Tracking System.
  • Understands the methods of identifying and categorizing Safety-Significant (safety-critical and safety-related) functions and their affects within the hardware, software, and human interfaces of the design architecture.
  • Perform Fault Tree Analyses.
  • Conduct Failure Modes Effects Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
  • Ability to develop Reliability and Maintainability Models and Reliability Block Diagrams (RBDs)
  • Conduct Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)
  • Support the Design Assurance process and other related design review milestones (i.e., PDR, CDR, etc.)
  • Have strong communication, computer, technical writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or other technical field of study, plus 5-7 years of industry experience.
  • Must have a basic understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theories.
  • Strong knowledge of MIL-STD-882E, MIL-HBK-516C, Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) 4761, STANAG 4671, operation and processes of System Safety Working Groups.
  • Experience managing Hazardous materials as part of the System Safety process (including Hazardous Material Management Plan and Report).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aerospace Industry experience (Commercial or DoD) and familiarity in Department of Defense (DoD) aircraft acquisition requirements. (FARs and DFARs)
  • Experience with compliance in defense contracting Performance Work Statements (PWS) and Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs)
  • Demonstrates the ability to follow and apply basic engineering knowledge, adapt standard techniques, and utilize the required diagnostics, tools, and equipment, while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong analytical skills, including data analysis and problem solving.
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Must be able to work both independently and on a team.
