Design Engineering Manager

Responsible For: Producing and overseeing the designs of multiple manufacturing projects

Job Purpose: To ensure quality, custom designs meet established budgets and timelines for client needs

Salary: Based on experience: Starting $90,000 to $130,000

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Manage designer and detailer teams
2. Oversee and/or produce all the concept designs
3. Oversee and/or create all detailed manufacturing shop drawings and CAD models in SolidWorks and/or Tekla
4. Ensure deadlines and timelines for designs are met
5. Track and maintain design costs and budgets

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Must be able to work with government and non-government personnel in a professional and clear manner. Be able to work with different trades and construction focuses to ensure a safe environment without limiting the trades’ abilities to complete work. Must be able to properly communicate verbally and in writing to upper management including but not limited to owners, project managers, superintendents, and corporate safety. Must be able to create buildable drawings according to standardization and describe them in detail.

Qualifications

1. 10 years of design experience
2. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in mechanical, civil, or structural engineering
3. Tekla and SolidWorks background
4. Proficient in SolidWorks software
5. Strong organizational and communication skills
6. Strong mechanical aptitude
7. Maintain a collaborative environment between all members of the project group
8. Creation of 2D drawings from 3D models or parts using common drafting standards
9. Creation of assembly models and assembly features within the assemblies
10. Coordinate/collaborate with engineers to create new and/or modify existing technical drawings that communicate engineering ideas, designs, and information in support of engineering functions
11. Verify information provided is accurately represented and all industry standard drafting standards are met
12. Capable of making and checking detail and layout drawings
13. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
14. Must pass pre-employment drug screen test if hired
15. Able to pass background check needed to enter federal bases
16. Qualified to work in USA

Preferred

1. Professional Engineering license for structures in the state of Utah or other state
2. Proficient in SolidWorks weldments
3. Proficient in Tekla

The ideal candidate will be responsible for executing and leading the full design process from ideation to production. Demonstrates ability to draw new designs and update our current designs. During the creation process ensure that our design meets all necessary design requirements.

2. Manage multiple complex projects at the same time
3. Ensure designs meet manufacturing, technical, quality, and customer requirements
4. Conform to and ensure compliance with ISO and AISC certifications
5. Ensure that all design projects are completed within budget and on time
6. Support the team's professional development through training, workshops, and mentorship
7. Regularly conduct design reviews to ensure that design requirements are not only met but also to guarantee customer satisfaction
